Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and NTTD LLC ("SportRelay," "we," "us") covering your use of the SportRelay mobile application and the sportrelay.app website (together, the "Service"). By downloading, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What SportRelay is
SportRelay is a pitch-calling tool: a coach taps a call on their phone and the call goes to the player’s earbud as speech, or to a watch as text. It operates from a single phone, and its pitch-calling functions work offline. (When a connection is available, the app may check for app updates at launch, send anonymous crash reports, and upload the anonymous statistics described in our Privacy Policy.) It is a communication convenience for coaching — nothing more.
2. League rules are your responsibility
Check your league's rules before you use SportRelay in competition. SportRelay is designed for one-way communication, consistent with the general shape of electronic-communication rules such as those of the NFHS and NCAA. But rules on electronic devices differ by governing body, state, league, level, and season, and they change. We make no representation that using SportRelay is permitted in any particular game, league, or jurisdiction. Verifying and complying with the rules that apply to you — and accepting any consequences of a violation — is entirely your responsibility. The gear guide on this site describes receive-only equipment as a convenience; it is not a representation that any product is permitted by any governing body.
3. Plans, trial, and billing
- Free and Pro. SportRelay is free to download and use. SportRelay Pro unlocks additional features (such as named pitchers, custom pages, defensive calls, multiple teams, game history, and watch delivery) and is purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play, either as an auto-renewing annual subscription or, when offered, as a one-time Lifetime purchase. The price, term, and any introductory or promotional pricing are shown at the point of purchase before you confirm.
- Lifetime Pro. A Lifetime purchase is a one-time payment that provides Pro features for as long as we offer SportRelay Pro on the platform where it was purchased, without renewal. It is not a subscription, it may be offered in limited quantities or for limited periods, and it does not include any separately sold product or tier we may offer in the future (such as a team or program tier). An active annual subscriber may be offered an upgrade price; upgrading ends the subscription at the close of its current period.
- Free trial. New annual subscribers receive a 7-day free trial. When the trial ends, your subscription begins automatically and the payment method on your store account is charged, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each term at the then-current price for your plan unless canceled at least 24 hours before renewal.
- Promotional codes. We may occasionally issue promotional codes that provide free or discounted access to a subscription for a stated period. Codes are redeemed through the App Store or Google Play, have no cash value, may not be sold, transferred, or exchanged, are limited to one use per store account unless stated otherwise, and may be modified or withdrawn at any time. When a promotional period ends, standard subscription terms and pricing apply unless you cancel before the period ends.
- Canceling. You cancel through your Apple or Google account settings — not through us, and deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. When you cancel, you keep access until the end of the paid period.
- Introductory / founder pricing. Promotional prices apply as described at purchase. If a promotional price is described as continuing for as long as you remain subscribed, it ends if your subscription lapses.
- Refunds. Purchases are processed by Apple and Google, and refunds are governed by their policies and issued through them. We cannot issue App Store or Play refunds directly.
- Price changes. If we change subscription pricing, changes apply no earlier than your next renewal, and the stores will notify you as their policies require.
- Offer codes. Promotional offer codes, where available, are subject to their stated terms, have no cash value, and may be limited or withdrawn.
4. Your license to use SportRelay
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own coaching use, subject to these Terms and to the applicable store's usage rules. We (and our licensors) own the Service, including the app, its design, and the SportRelay name and marks. No rights are granted except as stated here.
The subscription is personal to you, the subscribing coach: it covers SportRelay on your own devices signed in to your Apple or Google account. It is not a team, program, or organization license, and access may not be extended to other coaches by sharing accounts — each coach using the app on their own device needs their own subscription. If we offer team or program licensing in the future, it will be described separately.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- copy, modify, distribute, sell, rent, or create derivative works of the Service;
- reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code, except where the law permits it despite this term;
- use the Service to violate any law, regulation, or the rules of a sports governing body;
- interfere with or disrupt the Service; or
- use the Service in any situation where a communication failure could cause injury — it is a coaching convenience, not safety equipment.
6. Your content stays yours (and stays local)
Custom pages, buttons, labels, phrases, rosters and teams you create in SportRelay are stored on your device and belong to you. We don't receive them. You are responsible for what you have the app speak.
Separately, the app records anonymous statistics about the calls you send — pitch types, zones, level, region, and similar — with no names, rosters, or identifying information, as described in Section 2 of our Privacy Policy. Sharing these statistics is on by default and can be turned off at any time in Settings › Help & Legal › Privacy. By using the app with sharing on, you agree to that collection. We may use and publish these statistics in aggregate.
7. The app depends on your hardware
SportRelay relies on your device, its operating system, its text-to-speech voices, and your player’s earbud or watch — all outside our control. Delivery may be delayed, interrupted, or unavailable due to device settings, Bluetooth conditions, or OS behavior. Keep a fallback (like signs) available for moments that matter.
8. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR COMPLIANT WITH THE RULES OF ANY LEAGUE OR GOVERNING BODY. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NTTD LLC WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, OR PENALTIES IMPOSED BY ANY LEAGUE OR GOVERNING BODY, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. NOTHING IN THESE TERMS LIMITS LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE LIMITED BY LAW.
10. Disputes, arbitration, and class-action waiver
Please read this section carefully — it affects your legal rights.
- Informal resolution first. Before filing any claim, you agree to email support@sportrelay.app describing the dispute and give us 30 days to try to resolve it with you.
- Binding arbitration. Except as provided below, any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The arbitration will be conducted in Michigan or remotely by videoconference, and judgment on the award may be entered in any court with jurisdiction.
- Small-claims carve-out. Either party may instead bring an individual claim in small-claims court if it qualifies.
- Class-action waiver. DISPUTES WILL BE RESOLVED ONLY ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS. NEITHER PARTY MAY PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS ACTION, CLASS-WIDE ARBITRATION, OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING. If this waiver is found unenforceable as to a particular claim, that claim shall proceed in court, not arbitration.
- 30-day opt-out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing support@sportrelay.app within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, with the subject line "Arbitration Opt-Out" and the name and email or device information sufficient for us to identify your acceptance. Opting out does not affect any other part of these Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Where a dispute is not subject to arbitration, it will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Michigan, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
12. Store terms
Your download is also subject to the applicable store's terms (Apple Media Services or Google Play). If you downloaded from the Apple App Store: these Terms are between you and NTTD LLC only, not Apple; Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app; and Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms with the right to enforce them against you.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time (remember to cancel your subscription through your store account). We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially violate these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 6, 8, 9, 10, and 11) survive.
14. Changes to the Service or these Terms
We may modify the Service over time, and we may update these Terms. If we make material changes, we will post the updated Terms here with a new effective date and provide notice in the app or on this site. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. If you don't agree to a change, stop using the Service and cancel your subscription.
15. Miscellaneous
These Terms (plus the store terms and our Privacy Policy) are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
