Privacy Policy
SportRelay is a pitch-calling app made by NTTD LLC ("we," "us"). This policy explains what information we handle when you use the SportRelay mobile app or visit sportrelay.app, and the choices you have. We have tried to keep it short, because there isn't much to tell.
The short version: SportRelay has no accounts and no sign-in, and it does not identify you. Your settings, pages, rosters and game history live on your device. The free app is supported by anonymous pitch-call statistics — what gets thrown, at what level, in what region — which you can turn off in Settings at any time. Beyond that, the only data that leaves your device is what's needed to process a subscription through Apple or Google, a launch-time check for app updates, and anonymous crash reports. We don't sell data, we don't run ads, and we don't want information we don't need.
1. Information we do not collect
SportRelay’s pitch-calling and game functions work entirely on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or store on our servers:
- Your name, email address, or any account credentials — the app has no accounts.
- Player names, jersey numbers, rosters, or team names.
- Your page layouts, button arrangements, or custom spoken phrases.
- Audio. The app speaks through your device's text-to-speech; it does not record, and it never uses your microphone.
- Your device's location. The only place information we hold is the state or province you select during setup.
- Contacts, photos, messages, or hardware and advertising identifiers.
Everything above stays on your device and can be erased at any time with the in-app "Reset all app data" control.
2. Anonymous pitch-call statistics
Every time you send a call, the app records what was called. If statistics sharing is on, those records are uploaded to us in batches, without anything that identifies you or your players. We collect them to build an anonymous picture of how pitches are called at each level and in each region, with a particular focus on arm care in youth baseball and softball, and to improve the app.
What a record contains
| Collected | Not collected |
|---|---|
| The call: pitch type (including the name of a custom pitch type you created), zone, modifiers such as chase or a pickoff, defensive calls, and whether it was sent, not sent, or scrapped | Custom spoken phrases, custom button labels, or custom alignment names — a custom alignment is recorded only as "custom" |
| Sport, level (such as 12U or Varsity), and the state or province you selected during setup | Your device's location, address, or IP-based location |
| Pitch number within the outing, and the date and hour of the call | Exact times |
| Batter side, the voice language, how the call was delivered (earbud, watch, speaker), the app version and platform, and whether the install is on the free or Pro plan | Names, jersey numbers, rosters, team names, page layouts, contact details |
| Random identifiers: one for this app install, one per game, and one per named pitcher on Pro — generated on your device, with no connection to you, your Apple or Google account, or your subscription | Account, hardware, or advertising identifiers |
Your choice
Statistics sharing is on by default. You can turn it off in Settings › Help & Legal › Privacy on iOS and Android. When it is off, nothing is uploaded and no feature of the app changes. Turning it back on uploads records kept since it was turned off; records are never uploaded while a game is in progress. The same page has a Delete my statistics button that removes everything already uploaded from your install (Section 8).
How we use and publish them
We analyze these records in aggregate and may publish aggregate results (for example, pitch mix by level, or median pitch counts by region). We never publish a group small enough to point to a single team or install. We do not sell these records, we do not share them with advertisers, and we do not attempt to re-identify anyone from them.
Where they are stored
Records are stored with Supabase, our database provider, on servers in the United States, and are transmitted over encrypted connections. See the Supabase privacy policy.
3. Subscriptions, updates and crash reports
SportRelay Pro is sold through the Apple App Store and Google Play. When you purchase or start a trial:
- Apple or Google processes the payment. We never see your card number or billing details. Their handling of that information is governed by their own privacy policies.
- RevenueCat, our subscription-management provider, receives purchase receipt data and assigns your device a random, anonymous identifier so the app can confirm your subscription is active (including offline). This identifier is not your name or email and is not tied to an account. We also attach the install identifier from Section 2 to your RevenueCat record, so that if you contact support about a purchase we can find the right subscription. That link runs one way: the RevenueCat identifier is never sent to our statistics database. See the RevenueCat privacy policy.
- Expo (EAS Update) — when you open the app, it may check Expo’s update service for improvements to the app’s code and download them in the background. This happens only at launch — never during an active game — and pitch-calling, text-to-speech, and all game functions remain fully offline. The check transmits technical metadata only: your device’s operating system (iOS or Android), the app’s version/runtime and update channel, and a random installation token. It contains no personal information and no game data. See the Expo privacy policy.
- Sentry — our crash-reporting provider. If the app encounters an error or crash, a technical report is sent to Sentry so we can find and fix the problem. The report contains the device model and operating system version, the app version and update in use, the technical details of the error (a stack trace), and a random installation identifier. To help us measure stability, Sentry also counts app sessions anonymously (that the app was opened, and whether the session ended without crashing). These reports contain no name, email, or account information, no game data, and are not used for tracking or advertising. See the Sentry privacy policy.
We can see aggregate subscription information (for example, how many active subscribers exist and anonymized transaction records) but we cannot identify you personally from it.
4. Support email
If you email support@sportrelay.app, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it to respond to you and for nothing else. We keep support correspondence only as long as useful for helping you.
5. The website
sportrelay.app is a static site. We do not run analytics scripts, advertising trackers, or cookies on it. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses) to operate the service; we do not use them. Links to retailers on our gear page are plain links; we earn nothing from them and they carry no tracking from us.
6. What we share
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with advertisers. Information is handled only by the service providers named above (Apple or Google, RevenueCat, Expo, Sentry, Supabase, and the website's hosting provider) as needed to operate the app and site, or if the law requires us to. Aggregate statistics that cannot identify a person, a team, or an install may be published.
7. Children
SportRelay is built for coaches and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The statistics in Section 2 describe pitches, not people, and contain no information about any player. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Data retention and deletion
- On your device: all app data is yours. Delete it anytime with "Reset all app data" in Settings, or by uninstalling the app. Reset also discards any statistics not yet uploaded.
- Statistics: uploaded records are kept so that aggregate results can be recomputed over time. To delete the records from your install, tap Delete my statistics on the Privacy page in Settings: every record carrying your install identifier is deleted on the spot, and the app starts over with a new identifier. Because the identifier is random and stored only on your device, this button is the only way your records can be found; we cannot do it from an email.
- Subscription records: receipt and transaction data is retained by Apple/Google and RevenueCat per their policies and as required for accounting.
- Requests: to ask what data exists about you or to request deletion of anything we control (such as support emails or the anonymous subscription identifier), email support@sportrelay.app. We will respond within 30 days.
9. Security
The most private data — your rosters, pages and settings — never leaves your device, which is the strongest protection available. Everything that is transmitted travels over encrypted connections. Our statistics database accepts new records only through a controlled endpoint and cannot be read from the app or the public internet.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information, and to know what is collected. Because we hold almost nothing tied to you, most of these requests are satisfied by Section 8. We honor valid requests regardless of where you live, and we do not discriminate against you for exercising them. California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change meaningfully affects how your information is handled (for example, if a future team feature introduces accounts), we will describe it plainly in the app or on this site before it takes effect.
